BIRD’s AMPS is in operational use in the Czech Air force, protecting against the growing threat of MANPADS. The new SPREOS DIRCM solution will be presented on BIRD’s AeroshieldPOD in Booth number PO38.
IDET 2019, Brno
[Herzliya, Israel]: BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS) and Special Mission Aircraft Solutions (ASIO), will participate in IDET and present its AMPS MD DIRCM installed on the Aeroshield POD, an all-in-one integrated solution for the protection of Governmental VIP widebody aircraft. Uniquely designed to protect strategic transport and Head of State aircraft and helicopters, BIRD's AMPS is already in operational use by a number of different customers in the region, including the Czech Airforce.
BIRD AMPS will be presented together with European Air Services in Czechoslovak Group booth #PO38.
BIRD's AMPS MD uses advanced 5th Gen. Laser to counter any incoming missile threat. The system is designed to automatically detect, verify, and foil SAM attacks through the effective use advanced Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) that jam the missile's IR seeker and protects the aircraft.BIRD's patented SPREOSDIRCM, on which AMPS MD solution is based on, uniquely performs multiple functions, including threat confirmation, tracking and jamming of advanced IR guided missiles. SPREOS slews to the direction of the threat, activates its multi-band radar functionality, confirms and tracks while analyzing its unique information to enable the most effective jamming response. Following the confirmation and tracking, SPREOS deploys the dual-band countermeasure laser, causing the missile to miss the aircraft.
Alongside the AMPS MD, BIRD Aerosystems will also demonstrate its ASIO Special Mission ISR Aircraft solution, that enables Aerial surveillance of large areas.Cost-effective and specially designed to fit the needs of each customer, this is an ideal solution for border protection, and forany other airborne surveillance mission – all in one multi-mode Special Mission Aircraft.
Ronen Factor, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Bird Aerosystems:"Uniquely designed to protect strategic transport aircraft and Head of State aircraft and helicopters against the growing threat of MANPADS, BIRD AMPS MD DIRCM solution is the most advanced protection solution in the market today. Integrated in BIRD's all-in-oneAeroshield POD, the system can be easily transferred between different aircraft. In addition, our ASIO solution is ideal for ground patrol missions such as monitoring against illegal trafficking and border protection, as it offers decision makers and field-commanders accurate, real-time terrestrial information that enhances situational awareness."
