Nearly 5,500 participants from 20 NATO and partner nations, including the Czech Republic, participate in Saber Junction 18 exercise at the U.S. Army's Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas from 4th September to 1st October 2018. The exercise is designed to assess the readiness of the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade to land operations in a joint combined environment and to promote interoperability with participating allies and partner nations.

The soldiers of the 11th Guard Company at Bagram Airfield (BAF) are mostly members of the 74th Light Mechanized Battalion of the 7th Mechanized Brigade. They succsessfully finished their 8-month preparations before deployment in Afghanistan, and they are going to relieve the 10th Company within the following weeks.
The Ministry of Justice announced on 21st September it has started using the long awaited ankle bracelet system which will provide better monitoring of prisoners under house arrest. This should result in more frequent use of the house arrest concept and even free up more spaces in overcrowded prisons.
Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar (ANO) visited Doss Alto at the occastion of the 100th anniversary of the combats by the Czechosloval legionairies (21st September 1918). The Czechs and Slovaks received authorisation to form their own units in Italy by spring of 1918. The regiments composed mostly of former of prisoners of war took part in the final conflicts of 1918, distinguishing themselves in the battle for Doss Alto. The ceremony, National pilgrimage, held on Sunday 23rd September comprised a field mess, a parade with flags and a consecration of a statue of St. Venceslass.
The Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Aleš Opata took part in a joint meeting of Chiefs of Staff of the V4 (Visegrád Group) countries held in Slovakia on 25th and 26th September. The topic of the meeting was the involvement of the V4’s troops in the EU Battlegroup (EU BG), joint training activities, special forces development and cooperation within the military medical service.

Minister of Interior Jan Hamáček (ČSSD) proposed promotion of Tomáš Tuhý, President of the Police, to the rank of Lieutenant General. Director of the Police Administration of Central Bohemian Region, Vladimír Kučera, and Director of the Traffic Police, Tomáš Lerch are proposed for the rank of Brigadier General. In the Czech Republic, promotions to the ranks of generals take place twice a year: on 8th May (Victory Day) and on 28th October (Independent Czechoslovak State Day).
