The third oldest vehicle producer in the world wants to develop an air-cooled motor answering the Euro 6 emission standard and join the category of high-tech enterprises.
This should be also facilitated by the subsidy of 65 million Czech crowns from the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness (OPEIC) for completion of the development and testing center. It is the highest subsidy applied for by TATRA TRUCKS company so far.
„Thanks to the European funds for companies the TATRA TRUCKS company may advance from the category of medium-tech enterprises to the enterprises with high-tech projects. Furthemore this fact allows for cooperation with top Czech experts from whom well paid work positions are created,“ chief executive of Tatra Radek Strouhal said.
Thanks to the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness (OPEIC) TATRA TRUCKS already got almost 18 million Czech crowns to extend it’s development and testing center, which were used among others to equip the dynamic test-room, test-room for vehicles or the prototype fitting-room. Recently the project within the programme Potential in the cadre of the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness (OPEIC), where the investments are directed to the development and testing center TATRA TRUCKS, is being realized. The main benefits of both projects is reduction of costs and dependence on external suppliers, development of cooperation with universities and rise of capacity of the development and testing center which allows for faster innovation processes and extended product assortment. Now the company applies for the highest subsidy. The total investment will be about 131 million Czech crowns and the subsidy should cover 50 %, more than 65 million Czech crowns. By these means the company will finance modern technologies for motor test-room which is one of the key parts of the development and testing center. Will follow the possibility to complete the developement of the original Tatra air-cooled motor answering the Euro 6 emission standard, and to rise continuously the utility and qualitative parameters of the actual motors of the TATRA TRUCKS company.
Already the Tatra air-cooled motor answering the Euro 5 emission standard became world unique. „The experts were sceptical about the possibility of the Tatra air-cooled motor to answer the Euro 4 or Euro 5 emission standard. We’ve proved that it was possible,“ technical executive TATRA TRUCKS Radomír Smolka said. The Tatra air-coole motor has clear advantages especially when used in difficult terrain and climatic conditions. These are his construction simplicity, reliability, and thanks to that cheaper operation. These are the characteristics appreciated mainly by firefighters, rescue workers, soldiers, and other specialized users, to whom this motor is destined in the first place. With the emission standard tightened up the motor must undergo another evolution, which should be facilitated by the mentioned subsidy of over 65 million Czech crowns.
„The activities of the TATRA TRUCKS company are an ideal example how the european subsidies should be used for enterprises. They will support not only next progress of the company itself but thanks to the links to suppliers and other partners, like universities, of the entire industry sector,“ Lukáš Vymětal, chief executive of the Agency for Enterprise and Innovations (AEI), administrating the OPEIC subsidies, said.
